We provide a curriculum which meets the needs of the academic, personal and social development of each child. We will enable children to develop the core values needed to become confident learners and good twenty first century citizens. They will develop subject specific skills and have a clear understanding they are on a learning journey. In order to facilitate the teaching and learning of subject specific skills through Theme we use clear subject specific learning intentions. This enables the children to understand clearly what skills and knowledge they are learning during Theme lessons. Our curriculum has been designed to support our children in becoming independent, enthusiastic and confident learners.
Curriculum enrichment days are organised every half term to provide variety, support gaps in learning and make learning fun. Each half term we organise days where the whole school’s learning is based on something different and special. The inspiration for this could be: an exciting text, a scientific/mathematical topic, a motivational speaker, a visit to a place of interest, a national competition/event or an area of personal interest which provides a starting point.
